The Library's Master Plan, adopted by City Council in 1995, provided a policy basis for Library development over the last ten years. In 1997 the library added a "Progress Report" to the Plan to provide status information on several service areas originally highlighted in the 1995 document.
The new plan, currently under development, addresses the changing needs of Boulder’s community for the coming years. Integrated with the Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan, it promises to provide a blueprint for development, serve as a decision-making guide for staff and administration, and act as a vehicle to inform the public with respect to the library’s service development vision. Plan development begins with data collection and assessment to identify key service and facilities needs, opening the way to design effective means to carry out the vision. Planning efforts integrate ongoing formal and informal public process with Library staff work.
The Library offers opportunities for public observation and participation throughout the plan development period. From this Web site, the public may access information updates including notice and records of public meetings, documentation and opportunity for input.
